How to be Beautiful Inside and Out

What is beautiful? and what defines beauty? This is such a large question.

External beauty is transient as a passing breeze. Yet true beauty from within will never age. “Age cannot wither her, nor custom stale her infinite variety”.

Therefore I feel that a person’s true beauty is internal and not external.

Beauty’, influenced from the old Latin word beatus, meaning, happy, blessed; not physically beautiful, but beautiful in characteristics, mind, and soul. That is how I think I define beauty.-

- How to be beautiful inside and Out -

“Beauty is in the eye of the beholder” - This saying/proverb first appeared in the 3rd century BC in Greek.

Whilst being a very true statement, I believe that beauty is born from the qualities of the person, that the beauty belongs to.

“Shall I Compare Thee to a Summers Day?” - “Thou art more lovely and more temperate”

~To feel beautiful and to look beautiful I think comes from within. A plain person can shine from the inside out because of an inner happiness; a confidence in their sense of self, and by exuding this confidence brings with it a natural glow. To look beautiful in the skin you are in is to feel comfortable in the skin you are in. By that I mean, assured, unaware of the effect that you may have on the eye of the beholder.~

~ True beauty comes from the soul, and a person who possesses empathy and kindness to me is a truly beautiful person. On the other hand a person who portrays selfish, vicious or jealous traits comes across as an ugly person. These negative qualities always show in the face of the person who possesses them. You wear your emotions and very being on your out-side skin for the world to see.~

~ I think the eyes tell all. After all they are the windows to the soul. If you look into a persons eyes you can read the person. How many times have you said “That persons got really kind eyes”? - How can eyes be kind?- But they can, and that very quality is etched deep within the psyche and will shine through in their ’smiling’ eyes.~

~ To look beautiful in the skin you are in is to care for that skin. Skin needs nourishment, without this it can flake, dry, and dehydrate. To initially hydrate the skin we start from the inside, so first of all, and of paramount importance with new evidence supporting it, we need to drink water, and lots of it. After all water is the substance of life! The average person’s body is made up 60% to 70% of water. You should drink at least 7 to 10 average sized glasses of water each day for full benefit.

The body needs water in able to keep it properly hydrated. Without water our body’s immune system can weaken and it will affect our chemical and pH balances. It is essential for proper digestion, circulation and blood vessel flexibility. It also helps to remove toxins from the body and digestive tract.

So it is a major consideration to our skins health. Filtered water is the best, or failing that, bottled water. Beware of too much fizzy, carbonated soft drink. They contain carbon dioxide and our bodies consider this to be a waste product, a poison. Our bodies will only want to get rid of it.~

~ We like to pamper our bodies with creams, and lotions, and moisturisers. Are they really necessary?-Do we need them?- Apparently we do! Skin needs to be moisturised to retain its elasticity and the enzymes that help renew our skin do need moisture to function properly. Our skin must be kept moist so that the enzymes can do their work and help our skin exfoliate.

Skin care is very important, our skin is a living, breathing organ of our body. So we need to feed it from the inside. Be careful of what you put into your body. Eat nutritious foods and drink, be aware of their benefits. Fruit, nuts, and vegetables contain good nutrients and properties, do some research on which ones you will benefit most from. Your skin will illuminate when fed the right foods.~

~ We all need fresh air. A walk in the sunshine makes us feel better, it’s good for the spirit, and a walk in the country will make us feel at one with nature. Air and sunshine do wonders for the skin in moderation. Free radicals can be harmful, as can over exposure to the sun when not taken in moderate doses. Always wear a skin protection when venturing out, and a high protection factor sun block before going in the sun.~

~ Facial care is all important, and should go as follows: Cleanse and Condition, Hydrate and Tone, and finally moisturise. We must take care of our facial skin as the atmosphere can harm and age it. Always look after your skin. It is well worth investing in a good range of skincare products. Also sleep and rest is essential to skins renewal. A required 8 hours per night is recommended. Skin repairs itself whilst we sleep, so the importance of this is not to be ignored.~

~A complete unawareness of your looks, and to be natural in your ways has a greater effect than a heavily made up woman, posturing and trying to gain the attention of all people she comes into contact with. There is nothing more beautiful to me, than a woman stripped of her make up, with fresh skin, and silken hair flowing free.

That is how we are born. We appear as fresh, pink skinned babies, devoid of any unnatural additions. I agree make up can enhance beauty but only when it is used to a minimum. Caked on make-up has a doll like look and it not very appealing to the eye. It takes away any real character you may possess, and hides your real expressions. ~

~Remember true beauty is in the psyche, in the soul, mind, and spirit. If these are pure and kind, our beauty will shine through in our outward appearance. Making us truly beautiful in the skin we are in.~

Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate.

~Here William Shakespeare is comparing her beauty to a summer’s day. He is speaking of her qualities, and not her appearance. I think that sums up very well what I have been trying to say. That true beauty on the outside is a reflection of true beauty from within.~

- Jade Goody with Husband Jack Tweed -

A bright light has gone out - Jade Goody age 27, died peacefully in her sleep in the early hours of this morning. Her mother said” My beautiful girl is now at peace”.

She leaves behind her two young sons, Bobby 5, Freddie, 4, and her new husband, Jack Tweed, 21, who has been keeping vigil at her bedside along with her mother Jacqui, and her loyal friend Kevin.

Tweed has been allowed special compassionate leave from his 7’AM curfew which he incurred for an assault conviction. He was told when Jade neared the end he could be with her. For his age, he has been remarkable in dealing with such a tragic period in his young life.

His presence was of great comfort to Jade and gave her a “buoyancy” her publicist, Max Clifford, said. He wanted Jade to withdraw from the media and spend her last days away from the spotlight. He added, “Jade’s plight has touched the hearts and minds of people all over the world”.

Her mother and close friend Kevin were constantly at her side though she was heavily sedated and drifting in and out of consciousness; her life slowly ebbing from her body.

Jade was able to say her final goodbyes and to tell her family how much she loved them

Jade has shared her dark journey through cancer with us all, every step of the way and she has increased cancer awareness by 20%, with more people going in for check-ups and smears than ever before.

Doctors are calling the amazing effect that Jade had upon the public: ‘The Jade Effect’. That is her legacy to the world. She did not die in vain. Her plight touched millions of lives and she did make a difference.

Jade’s appeal lay in the innocence and child like qualities that she possessed. She felt she was under educated but she always bright; very bright.

Her sunny outlook and sense of fun made her immediately likeable and I warmed to her instantly when I first saw her on the Big Brother 3 reality TV show back in 2002. I admired Jade for her reasons for going into the BB house, and that was for wanting to better herself.

Some famous Jade quotes from that series were: “I thought Cambridge was in London. Where is it then? Is it in Kent? I knew it was in England but I thought it was in London.”

Another Jade’ism: When told that Cambridge was in East Anglia, Jade said: “East Anglia - that’s abroad!” - And that was Jade! I don’t think her geography was that hot. But it was all part of her charm.

Jade Goody had an enormous warmth, a refreshing honesty of character in the world of the ‘Celebrity Circus’, and a heart of pure gold which touched everyone she came into contact with.

Jade did not win Big Brother 3, but she did make a lot of money and got more work than anyone else. Jade became the first Big Brother Millionaire off the back of the show. Her popularity was immense and her 15 minutes of fame extended far beyond that.

She thought that she was “Ignorant”. But I think she sold herself short. She was just lacking in education; there’s a difference.

Her business acumen was quite evident when she opened her first business, Uglies, a beauty salon, and published her first book, her Dance Workout DVD, ‘and’ when her first perfume hit the shelves.

Jade did very well for herself and her family in her short life. She did what she wanted; she bettered herself; and what made everything possible, was: ‘Just Jade’. No other special talent. It was her warm personality that was her fortune and the public loved her.

She fell from grace briefly when she entered the Big Brother Celebrity house in 2007, when unwittingly she started a race riot which hit the headlines and started an international furor.

I don’t think Jade had a clue what all the fuss was all about. She had a very volatile temper and that’s just the way she handled things; screaming and shouting and calling names. After all, she was from Bermondsey; a rough neck of the woods.

All was patched up when Jade entered the Indian Bigg Boss house in August, 2008 and made amends with Shilpa Shetty at the centre of the race row. Jade had already apologised publically on UK TV and she was in bits to think of the big International issue that she had caused.

Whilst in the Bigg Boss House Jade got the call from the doctor that changed her life. He called the programme urgently to tell Jade that she had cervical cancer and was to come home to the UK immediately.

Chemotherapy was unable to halt the aggressive cancer and it spread to her vital organs and then her bloodstream. It was Jade’s decision to play out the journey of her illness in front of the cameras.

All money earned from her wedding to Jack Tweed, which OK magazine covered, her Living TV deal and any other paid deals, were to raise cash to put into trust for her sons futures.

Her boys were her life and it is heartbreaking that she has had to leave them before they are grown. All those things she’ll never see, all those birthdays and events that she will miss, all those small moments that we all take for granted; cruelly snatched from her before her time.

The death of Jade Goody will touch many lives. Not only for the tragic loss, but also for the lives that she has already saved. There are many reported cases of cancers being caught early, simply because people who weren’t bothering before, are now going for ‘that’ check-up because Jade’s openess brought cancer straight out into the open and into our living rooms where it couldn’t be ignored.

With her amazing courage and strength of belief, even through her abominable pain, she has probably brought the cervical cancer screening age down to age 20 from 25. That was her dying wish and one which will be realised.

The Marie Curie nurses have done a wonderful job looking after Jade in her final days and I can’t praise enough the brilliant work that they do for terminally sick patients.

Jade was a much loved celebrity and the public adored her. Most of my traffic on my blog has been for Jade and I have tried to update on her journey as best I can.

Page after page of search for: ‘How is Jade today’? ‘How is Jade’s health’? – Is Jade OK? - Is Jade getting better? -

I knew it was coming; but this is the post I didn’t want to have to write.

Jades bravery, dignity and spirit in the face of death were remarkable. Smiling and communicating through the press, to her public right up until the end. Her life cruelly cut short by the ravages of terminal cancer. -

A shining light has gone out.
