is up for Nickelodeon Kids Choice Award -
Following the heinous domestic assault on singer, Rihanna (Robin Rihanna Fenty), 20, a few weeks ago by singer/songwriter boyfriend, Chris Brown, 19, US radio stations began pulling his tunes left right and centre.
Jay-Z, fuming when he learnt of the assault, said: “He’s a walking dead man” –
Now it seems that Chris Brown is a Nominee for Nickelodeon’s ‘Kid’s Choice Awards’, despite the felony charges lodged against the volatile singer.
Chris Brown is nominated for favourite male singer and for favourite song with: “Kiss Kiss.” Brown is up for favourite song alongside Rihanna, for “Don’t Stop the Music”, who police concurred, was the victim of, biting, punching and attempted choking, by Brown last month.
He was charged with assault and making criminal threats, when he appeared in court recently. Brown was released on bail of $50, 000 and he will return next month for sentencing.
The attack occurred on February 8th in the early hours of the morning after the couple had attended a Pre-Grammy party.
Brown turned on the 20 year old, Barbados born singer, Rihanna, as they were driving in his rented Lamborghini.
The incident happened when Rihanna read out a lengthy 3 page text that she had found on his phone from a former girlfriend.
Brown got her in a headlock till she nearly passed out, banged her head hard against the car door, punched her and bit her fingers.
She was covered in bruises, had a split lip, bite marks on her arm and fingers and a badly swollen face with black eyes. Brown also tried to push Rihanna out of the car.
Brown is reported to have said: “You just did the stupidest thing ever” “I’m going to kill you”. “I’m going to beat the shit out of you when we get home” -
Rihanna needed hospital treatment following the brutal, unprovoked attack upon her.
Nickelodeon said that “Chris Brown was nominated for his work as a performer, and kids will decide who wins”. A representative from the network confirmed that they have no plans to remove Brown, 19, from the running.
Not a great message to be putting out there to the kids, I don’t think. That it’s OK to beat up on someone as long as they have talent!?! - I personally think he should be pulled, and quick.
An online petition asking Nickelodeon to remove Brown as a Nominee is up on the web.

nice… sometimes our society is as priceless as a mastercard commercial.
I’ve written about this one too.
I signed the petition, I realised afterwards though that the petition is to remove both Chris Brown and Rihanna. I can understand that argument in that she’s back with him now and she can therefore be seen as a bad role model too, I’d rather it was just Chris Brown that is removed though as what he’s done is just absolutely disgusting.
Nickelodeon is so stupid to keep him as a nominee, so many people have complained and yet they’re choosing to ignore all and keep Chris Brown in the running. Do they not realise how damaging this could be for their reputation, and what a bad example they’re setting to their viewers? Surely they can’t be that stupid.
Very well written article from you as always. I always enjoy reading your work. I just hope Nickelodeon come to their senses and remove Chris Brown from the running before it’s too late.
