BREAKING NEWS Ancient Cairo Rocked by Bomb Blasts– Bomb Defused in Al-Hussein Mosque Explosion Cairo Egypt - Explosion Rips Through Khan El-Khalili bazaar Cairo

A loud explosion was heard when a bomb went off outside Al-Hussein Mosque in the Egyptian Capital of Cairo. 4 people have been killed and 18 people injured.
The bomb was detonated after being thrown from a moving motorcycle towards the crowded market area adjacent to the ancient Al-Hussein Mosque.
The Al-Hussein Mosque in Medieval Cairo was built in 1154 and lays a few metres away from the bustling Khan El-Khalili bazaar.
The stunning Mosque houses some very old and sacred artefacts and is thought to hold the earliest complete manuscript of the Quran.
The site of the Al-Hussein mosque is renowned as one of the holiest Islamic sites in Cairo. Police were quick to evacuate people from the Mosque after the explosion.
There are 4 fatalities and of the 18 injured, 6 have serious injuries. The victims of the blast are mainly foreign tourists, being French and German.
A second bomb has been defused by the police and the busy market area cordoned off. -

Bombers always seem to target highly populated areas in order to cause as much destruction as possible. It’s so sick. I’m glad the police were able to defuse a second bomb, but four people have still been killed with others injured and that’s just terrible.
Stunning picture you’ve chosen there, and a very interesting article too. Lots of information packed into it, and it’s really well written too. An absolutely excellent article.
