There are rumours abound that Michael Jackson, 50, is seriously ill. According to a variety of sources including his biographer, Ian Halperin, MJ is suffering with the crippling and deadly, respiratory lung condition, emphysema.

He further claims that Michael Jackson has the genetic disorder, Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency from which the emphysema stems. The genetic illness also causes chronic gastrointestinal bleeding and has caused Jackson to lose 95% vision in his left eye.

Halperin’s claims that MJ needing a lung transplant could be unfounded and he may be using the publicity as fodder for a book which he is working on. The unauthorized biography of Michael Jackson goes on to state that the strange, reclusive singer wheezes all the time and can barely speak.

In a statement by Halperin he states: “Michael has had Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency for years but it has gotten worse. He needs a lung transplant but may be too weak to go through with it. He also has emphysema and chronic gastrointestinal bleeding, which his doctors have had a lot of trouble stopping. It’s the bleeding that’s the most problematic part. It could kill him.”

Michael Jackson, 50, is one of the best-selling recording artists of all time. He started his musical career with his brothers, ‘The Jackson 5’. The Motown group wowed America, much for the young front man, (Michael Jackson’s) obvious talent.

After going solo, the world was Micheal Jackson’s oyster and after producing such greats as, ‘Billie Jean’ and ‘Thriller’, until in the 1990’s, child abuse allegations and revelations began springing up, left right and centre, surrounding the strange singers preference for the company of children.

His palatial, fantasy home, ‘Neverland’ was constantly full of young, star struck, adoring boys and girls who would stay unchaperoned, overnight at the grown man’s home. Not a particularly healthy scenario and one that was very much open to question and just waiting for disaster to happen at any time.

There is no denying the influence that Michael Jackson, The King of Pop, has had on the music Industry and he has been a strong and leading force on the pop music culture of our time. His moves, particularly his famous ‘Moonwalk’, have been emulated Worldwide.

With the making of the music video to promote the song, ‘Thriller’, where a brilliantly choreographed dance routine was implemented, he further influenced the shape and out-come of the music video, elevating it to an art form.

Love him, or hate him, there is no denying the indomitable force that Michael Jackson has been within popular music and Pop culture today and whether these latest claims of serious illness are true or not, it would just be a case of another nail in the tarnished coffin of the already ruined empire of the once great, and legendary music artist, Michael Jackson. -

Oh no, these rumours are terrible! I hope they’re not true; it would be horrible if he really did have emphysema. It’s disgusting if Halperin has made it all up purely to sell books though; it would be a truly vile act to commit.

An excellent article from you as always there; I enjoyed the background on Michael Jackson, and really liked the way you built everything together. The blog post reads really well, is incredibly well written, and I just really enjoyed everything about it.

The rumours are very interesting, your background information is excellent, and I just really like the flow of the post. Another absolutely brilliant blog post from you, and one that made me very proud to read.
