Following the huge success of the Twilight books written by Stephenie Meyer, which has been adapted for screen by Melissa Rosenberg; the film looks set to be a major triumph here in the UK.
Already rapturously received in the US where it opened to blockbusting box office figures of $70.6 million on its opening weekend, putting Twilight in the number 1 spot.
Plot: A vampire romance. A teenage girl falls in love with a vampire. She is his soul mate. Bella and Edward are swept up in a passionate and highly unusual romance.
Directed by Catherine Hardwicke, and starring Kristen Stewart as Bella Swan and Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen / vampire.
Twilight has had fantastic reviews and it is its adherence to book that has earned a lot of praise. Fans have said how close it is to the book and also that the humour and music within Twilight is brilliant.
On her official Website Stephenie Meyer tells the story of how Twilight was created and what inspired her to write it. How the Vampire was strikingly beautiful and she couldn’t shake him from her mind.
It actually occurred in a bizarre and surreal dream she had one night, where the two main characters had such a marked effect on upon her waking, that she immediately felt she had to write the dream down to capture it in word so that it wouldn’t escape her memory.
It’s a wonderful article and anyone interested in the Twilight books or the film would definitely enjoy the read. I found it fascinating. She also details how you go about searching out a publisher once you have written a book, which I found extremely useful.
You’ll find the whole story and information on her Website:
