Obama Time Magazine award person of the year

Barack Obama – President Elect - Time Magazine ‘Person of the Year’ 2008.

It was announced today the Barack Obama has been chosen as Time Magazine’s ‘Person of the Year’.

Time had this to say: “For having the confidence to sketch an ambitious future in a gloomy hour, and for showing the competence that makes Americans hopeful he might pull it off, the President-elect is TIME’s Person of the Year 2008”. –

Runners up include: Sarah Palin, Governer, French President, Nicolas Sarkozy, Chinese director Zhang Yimou, Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson, French President Nicolas Sarkozy,

Barack Obama, President Elect, is to become the 44th President of the United States when he takes over from George Bush in January 2009, when he will move into the White House and begin his reign of Office.

Obama appeared from virtual obscurity after campaigning hard for two years to prepare for the recent Presidential elections. He has become a major political figure overnight and one which yields great power and respect worldwide.

To have come from nowhere and to have taken America by storm, capturing their imaginations and overcoming inbred racial prejudice and age old beliefs to dominate the recent Presidential campaign so completely, was a major accomplishment from this political newcomer.

At the start, even his campaign manager had doubts whether Obama would be able to win the election and overcome the hierarchy within the American political system. But win he did, and win by a landslide.

Obama worked long and hard to make his campaign significant and powerful and all meaning. The American people were ready for change; excited by this fresh, new candidate with his promises and high beliefs.-

For for his accomplishments and standing, Time has now honoured his presence, magnitude and great achievement, to crown him their ‘Time Person of the Year 2008’. A great accolade for Obama and a momentous year.

A huge achievement for Barack Obama to have come so far in such little time. President Elect, and Time Magazine’s Person of the Year 2008… not too bad a year for Obama at all!

Sarah Palin a runner-up though… is that some kind of unfunny joke? I would have thought Villain of the Year would be more up her street!

Brilliant article as always, and like I say; many congratulations to Barack Obama!
