Two twin girls, one black, one white have been born to mother, Alison Spooner and partner, Dean Durrant, 33, from Fleet, Hampshire, UK.
This is the second set of girl twins born to this couple within seven years. 4 girls, and in each case, one was black and one was white. Leah is white like her mother and Miya has her father’s black skin.
This is an extremely rare happening but it is possible if the genes meld in a certain way. “Non-identical twins happen when two eggs are fertilised by two separate sperm. Although they will share genes from the same parents, the way those genes are expressed will vary”.
The mother of the twins is white and the father is mixed race. This is the first and second occurrence only of the two different colour twins in this country and both sets to the same parents.
It was only when the parents had the two girls together, side by side; that they could confirm that the girls were indeed, two different colours like their first set of twins.
The babies were in a special care unit due to the fact that they were not breathing properly and it was only after five days that the parents actually saw them side by side.
The twin girls Leah and Miya were born at Frimley Park Hospital, Surrey. A scan showed the babies were in the breech position and they were delivered by Caesarean section at just 37 weeks of pregnancy.
When Alison, their mother was expecting, she emailed William Hill to see if they would set a bet up on the probability that the new set of twins would be separate coloured, but William Hill the Bookmakers, declined the offer due to lack of medical knowledge and unable to fix odds because of this.
In the meantime, the older sets of twins are delighted with the new arrival of their baby sisters and excited that they look exactly like them.-

The 18 year old daughter, Bristol, of former Republican vice-presidential candidate, Sarah Palin, 44, and husband Todd, 44, an American oil field production operator, has given birth to a baby boy on Sunday, December 28th, in Palmer, Alaska.
Bristol, 18, is the eldest of the three daughters by Todd and Sarah Palin. The Palins also have two sons together.
The healthy baby boy arrived at 5:30 am weighing 7 lb. 4 oz. And the child is to be named Tripp Easton Mitchell Johnston. His father, Levi Johnston is an apprentice electrician and former Wasilla High School hockey player.
“We think it’s wonderful,” said Colleen Jones, the sister of Bristol’s grandmother Sally Heath, who confirmed the news. “The baby is fine and Bristol is doing well. Everyone is excited.”
Bristol and Levi have been dating for three years and plan to marry in 2009 to raise the boy within a family environment. Bristol caught the public’s eye last summer when her pregnancy hit the newspaper headlines.
This was after John McCain had picked her mom to be his aide in the up-coming presidential elections. Sarah and Todd Palin released this statement of support at the time: “Bristol “has our unconditional love and support.”
Photo rights of the ‘happy family’ have been won at auction by People, with an estimated price of $300,000, which has risen somewhat since Levi’s mom was arrested on a recent drugs charge, allegedly, accused of selling OxyContin tablets.
Bill McAllister, a spokesman for Governor Palin said, “This office will not be issuing any statements on Bristol’s baby. We’re here to talk about state government and that matter falls outside of that.”
A Sarah Palin spokesman in Alaska, said the grandma governor was busy with state business and would be making no public comment on her grandchild’s arrival, at this time. -
- Latest on the Gaza/Israeli Conflict - The Gaza Strip – Rocket Attacks on Israel - Ceasefire Called For
On its fourth day of air offensive, Israel continues on with its bombardment of Gaza. 360 Palestinians have now died, 1,600 are injured. 62 of the dead were civilians a United Nations agency stated. The total of Israeli people to have lost their lives is only four to date in this latest spate of rocket attacks.
Israeli has been heavily criticised for its brutal onslaught on Gaza and many countries leaders have spoken out against the excessive violence used by the Israelis. Many Gaza civilians have been the victims of the air strikes and innocent women and children have lost their lives in Israelis attempts to bring the rocket fire from Hamas under control.
Israel states that it does not want to re-take Gaza unless it is forced to by the actions of the Hamas but wants an end to the dangerous rocket fire which continually threatens and wears down the Israeli people.
The rockets which the Hamas are using are Cassan. The more powerful rocket is the long range Katyusha launcher which the Israelis are more worried about and this rocket launcher is able to deliver a devastating amount of explosives to an area target more quickly. It also can travel 10-13 miles.
The Katyusha appear to be smuggled in at the moment and military experts feel that the Hamas will not have more than a couple of dozen of these. They will originally have been smuggled in through the tunnels from Egypt.
The Cassan is a relatively easy rocket to make and it is being assembled within Gazza itself in basic workshops. Weapons Experts have stated that a 6th former would have no trouble making these with ease.
Two more rockets have just been launched out of the Gazza strip today and their target was the Southern Israeli town of Siderot, where a residential home has just been struck. There are no fatalities this time.
The air strikes are just the ‘First stage’ in several levels in Israel’s mission to get the Gaza rocket attacks to cease once and for all as approved by the Jewish state’s security cabinet. Israel has been living under the more or less constant threat of these rocket attacks from Hamas.
After a recent 6 month ceasefire Hamas once again started with the rocket attacks. In disproportionate retaliation some feel, Israel struck a deadly surprise last Saturday on the Jewish Sabbath with a major air onslaught against the Hamas.
There will be no truce until the rocket attacks by Hamas are stopped completely. Israeli fighter planes continued to strike targets in the Gaza strip for the 4th day as the Hamas are still refusing to ceasefire.The Foreign Minister states that the military option was the only option left open to them.
At the moment, Israeli flat-bed trucks, earthmovers, are at the stand-by for the next stage in the Gaza invasion. There is only so much that can be done by sea and air, and once all major buildings in Gaza are hit, Israel will need to move in by land to eradicate the Hamas rocket launching sites if the Hamas continue to decline the ceasefire.
UN Secretary General, Ban Ki Moon has called for a ‘Halt of Violence’ and a ceasefire to stop what is being called a ‘Humanitarian injustice’ against the Palestinians, when he spoke out in New York yesterday. He said that there will be emergency meetings of Arab Foreign Ministers in the next few days to try to come up with a quick fire solution.
The Hamas is an Islamic Resistance Movement that does not recognize Israel’s right to exist and whose mission it is to defend Palestinians from the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories.
The Hamas took control of Gaza after being elected 18 months ago. In the past they were considered para- military, but as time goes on they are beginning to gain a power and strength and are becoming a full-on army and are today a force to be reckoned with. -

The ex ‘Soprano’s actor’, John Costelloe, 47, was found dead at his Brooklyn home according to a report issued by police spokesman, Lt. John Grimpel to the Associated Press.
Costelloe was found dead at his Brooklyn, New York, home on December 18th with a reported, self inflicted gunshot wound to his head. Family members called the police after they became concerned at not being able to reach him.
Ex FDNY Fire-fighter, Costelloe played the part of the gay lover opposite the Mafia gangster, Vito Spatafore, played by the actor, Joseph Gannascoli, in the highly popular Soprano’s TV series. Costelloe became known as ‘Johnny Cakes’ Witowski after securing the role of Jim, who was a short-order cook in the show.
At the time of his death, Costelloe was appearing in an off-Broadway theater production of ‘Gang of Seven’, in which he played the part of a hustler. Costelloe had previously finished work on a film called ‘Doubt’, which stars Meryl Streep and Philip Seymour Hoffman and is showing at movie theatres at the moment.
Long-time pal and former Sopranos cast mate, Joseph Gannascoli, had this to say to the New York Post, “I was shocked when I heard, and it still hasn’t really sunk in”. “I never detected anything troubling about him. I enjoyed all the time I ever spent with him.”
The wake and funeral has been held and was attended by fellow Soprano cast members. “It’s beyond me. This is too much for me to handle” were the only words that Costelloe’s father, Michael, 77, could find.
The Playwright of ‘Gang of Seven’, Jim Neu, in which Costelloe played the part of a fast-talking hustler, said his timing had been off in his final shows, but he wouldn’t give any indications as to what was troubling him.
Matt Dwyer, a colleague and fellow fireman of John Costelloe, said: “He was a great guy. Everyone’s in shock”.

There are rumours abound that Michael Jackson, 50, is seriously ill. According to a variety of sources including his biographer, Ian Halperin, MJ is suffering with the crippling and deadly, respiratory lung condition, emphysema.
He further claims that Michael Jackson has the genetic disorder, Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency from which the emphysema stems. The genetic illness also causes chronic gastrointestinal bleeding and has caused Jackson to lose 95% vision in his left eye.
Halperin’s claims that MJ needing a lung transplant could be unfounded and he may be using the publicity as fodder for a book which he is working on. The unauthorized biography of Michael Jackson goes on to state that the strange, reclusive singer wheezes all the time and can barely speak.
In a statement by Halperin he states: “Michael has had Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency for years but it has gotten worse. He needs a lung transplant but may be too weak to go through with it. He also has emphysema and chronic gastrointestinal bleeding, which his doctors have had a lot of trouble stopping. It’s the bleeding that’s the most problematic part. It could kill him.”

Not a particularly healthy scenario and one that was very much open to question and just waiting for disaster to happen at any time.

Christmas, that magical time of year is almost here and I have compiled a list of my most favourite Christmas songs. A lot of Christmas songs tend to err on the cheesy side but as its Christmas we are quite forgiving of this. Basically, anything that gets us into the Christmas spirit is acceptable and some of the staunch, old die-hards are definitely the best.
There is a lot of sentiment attached to Christmas, and a lot of the songs deal with heartbreak and missing a partner. Alternately, a lot of the songs are uplifting and deal with the true nature of Christmas and there is much to be said for a good Christmas Carol.
There are also a lot of really silly, gimmicky songs brought out around this time of year, but it all adds to the atmosphere, excitement and build-up to the big day and music and carols are a huge part of Christmas.

The Alexander Burke X-Factor version of the Leonard Cohen song Hallelujah has grabbed the Christmas number 1 slot in the UK singles charts. Second Place has been taken by the great Jeff Buckley cover of Hallelujah and the writers version by Leonard Cohen has crept in at number 36. All that was missing was John Cale’s truly amazing version of this song to complete the picture.

The parents of Madeleine McCann are putting out a Christmas Appeal in the form of new video footage of Madeleine which has never been seen in public before, in the hope that it may jog someone’s memory or help identify her if there are any more sightings of the child.
Madeleine McCann, aged 3 at the time, vanished during the night from her family’s ground floor holiday apartment in Praia da Luz, Portugal in 2007. Her parents had left her unattended while they dined out with friends 100 yards away. Her two year old twin brother and sister, Sean and Amelie, were with Madeleine and her parents had left the door to the apartment unlocked when they left for dinner.
“Kate and Gerry McCann reported to the police that they were taking turns checking on their children and that at approximately 21:00 Western European Summer Time Gerry checked on the children and they were all fine.
At around 21:45 the couple returned from the restaurant to find an empty bed and the apartment door and window wide open and reported the incident to the police at 22:00. Staff and guests at the complex searched until 04:30 whilst police on the Spanish border and all airports in Portugal and Spain were notified”. Article
Since Madeleine disappeared there have been many reported, supposed sightings of her across Europe, but none of these have proven to lead anywhere. During the past 2 years the parents of Madeleine have not given up hope and have tirelessly campaigned, fought and tried in vain to find out what has happened to their daughter.
In a desperate plea on Sky News her British parents, Kate and Jerry have released video footage of Madeleine at Christmas 2006, at their home in Rothley, Leicestershire, England. In this video it will be the first time her voice has been heard by the public. The video shows her playing with her twin siblings and talking about her pretty pink shoes in a typical cosy Christmas setting at her home.
The McCann’s have put out this statement: “Christmas is a time for children”. “Please help bring our daughter back”. They believe that by keeping her memory alive and in the public eye that it may help bring their daughter back home.
The situation in Portugal regards the disappearance of Madeleine is that her case has now being shelved and the Portuguese prosecutors have lifted the McCann’s alquido status. Previously the McCann had been under investigation and ‘official suspects’ as regards their daughter’s disappearance.
‘Initial Investigation by the Portuguese Police concluded that Madeleine, who had been left unsupervised in a bedroom with her two-year-old twin siblings, had been abducted’.
DNA Tests were carried out on bodily fluids blood samples and hair found in the McCann’s holiday apartment and on the vehicle that they hired 25 days after the four-year-old disappeared.
The McCann’s final statement on the video was: “This will be our second Christmas without our daughter. Please help to make sure we won’t have a third”.
Madeleine vanished from her family’s holiday apartment in Praia da Luz, Portugal on May 3rd, 2007, whilst her parents dined out with friends, she was 3 years old.

Latest Caylee Anthony – Casey Anthony – Remains Confirmed Caylee Anthony – Orlando - Orange County FLA – Caylee DNA Match
At a News Conference today it was confirmed that the human remains found in a wooded lot in Orlando, Florida, last Thurday are that of Caylee Marie Anthony, aged 3.
This latest announcment comes in the light of much speculation and mystery surrounding this case. Dr. Jan Garavaglia, the Orange County medical examiner had this to say, “It is with regret that I’m here to inform you that the skeletal remains found December 11 are those of the missing toddler”.
This latest news marks the end of a case which has presented many twists and turns. The six-month search for Caylee Anthony has culminated in a tragic ending.
DNA matching was proven to be conclusive that the remains are sadly that of Caylee Anthony. The cause of death was homicide though the actual way in which Caylee died has not yet been determined as they are awaiting the results of the toxicology testing, still being done on the remains.
At the news conference today, Dr. Garavaglia said that “the remains were completely skeletonized and that no tissue was present. She said there was no trauma to the bones before Caylee’s death”. The child’s mother, Casey Anthony, and grandparents have been informed of the results of the findings.
Casey Anthony, 22, now faces charges of first-degree murder, aggravated child abuse, aggravated manslaughter and providing false information to law enforcement. She could face a sentence of life imprisonment, but prosecutors will not be seeking the death penalty in this instance.
At the time of Casey Anthony’s arrest, police had found Traces of Chloroform, hair strands and evidence of decomposition in the Trunk of the car. Cadaver police dogs had also picked up the scent of death in the car and also in the back yard to the house.
Caylee Anthony, aged 2 at that time of her disappearance, first went missing in June of this year, though she was not reported as missing until the July. Repeated requests from Caylee’s grandparents to Caylee’s mother asking where Caylee was, failed to yield any convincing answers.
On July 15th Caylee’s grandmother called 911 in distress, to tell them that her daughter would not tell her where Caylee was. She went on to say, “I can’t find my granddaughter. There’s something wrong”. “I found my daughter’s car today and it smelled like there’s been a dead body in the damn car.”
When questioned, Casey Anthony told the police that Caylee was with a babysitter. But when the police checked out her story, there were quite a few discrepancies. The supposed babysitter said that she didn’t know her and the address that Casey had supplied as the babysitters was actually an apartment that had been vacant for quite some time.
Remains have now been found a half a mile away from the grandparents, George and Cindy’s, home where Caylee’s mother also lived. The grandparents have now gone into seclusion at a nearby motel. The house is cordoned off while investigators and police carry out their work.
The call went into 911 after a utility worker discovered the remains of a small child and a human skull in a plastic bag on a wooded lot last Thursday. There is initial evidence that these could be the remains of young Caylee Anthony who has been missing since June this year.
Amongst the remains, hair, bones and skin were found, and the mouth of the skull had residue of duct tape around it. They had been sent away for forensic analysis and DNA testing; which now of course, has proved a conclusive match.
“This is a sheriff’s nightmare,” Orange County Sheriff Kevin Beary said. “I think there’s been an open wound in the community. No child should have to go through this, and we have far too many incidents like this across the country all the time.”
“As you can imagine, the Anthony’s are grieving deeply over this loss,” he said. “Please respect their privacy and understand they will stand together as a family in order to get through this”.
“This is a tragic moment in the lives of good and honourable people. Please treat them respectfully so they can grieve with dignity over the loss of this precious child, Caylee Marie Anthony.” -
The resolve of this tragic case brings an end to six months of intense search by the authorities for the missing toddler, and begins the start of the grieving process for the rest of her heartbroken family.
Caylee Anthony Remains Found – Orlando Florida – Human Skull Found in Orange County
Young Caylee Anthony aged 3, went missing from her home in Orlando, FLA, some time in June this year, but was not reported as missing until the July. Repeated requests from Caylee’s grandparents to Caylee’s mother asking where Caylee was, failed to yield any convincing answers.
On July 15th Caylee’s grandmother called 911 in distress, to tell them that her daughter would not tell her where Caylee was. She went on to say, “I can’t find my granddaughter. There’s something wrong”. “I found my daughter’s car today and it smelled like there’s been a dead body in the damn car.”
When questioned, Casey Anthony told the police that Caylee was with a babysitter. But when the police checked out her story, there were quite a few discrepancies. The supposed babysitter said that she didn’t know her and the address that Casey had supplied was actually an apartment that had been vacant for quite some time.
Remains have now been found a half a mile away from the grandparents, George and Cindy’s, home where Caylee’s mother also lived. The grandparents have now gone into seclusion at a nearby motel. The house is cordoned off while investigators and police carry out their work.
The call went into 911 after a utility worker discovered the remains of a small child and a human skull in a plastic bag on a wooded lot last Thursday. There is every initial evidence that these could be the remains of young Caylee Anthony who has been missing since June this year.

The FBI has also been brought in to assist the Sheriff and his men in their ongoing investigations of both, the grandparents house and the wooded are where the remains were discovered last Thursday.
Caylee’s mother, 22-year-old Casey Anthony, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder, aggravated child abuse, aggravated manslaughter and providing false information to law enforcement soon after Caylee was first reported missing.
Casey Anthony is now being held without bond in Orange County Jail. She had previously been investigated on lesser child neglect charges, petty theft and handling a forged cheque.
“Orange County Sheriff Kevin Beary said earlier Friday that a search of the grandparents’ home where the mother and daughter lived had also yielded links to the remains that he would not reveal. There are no other similar missing-child cases in the area”.
Linda Kenney Baden, One of the attorneys, at the court hearing on Friday said “anthropological measurements and hair colour” of the remains were said to match Caylee’s.
At the time of Casey Anthony’s arrest, police had found Traces of Chloroform, hair strands and evidence of decomposition in the Trunk of the car. The cadaver police dogs had also picked up the scent of death in the car and also in the back yard to the house.
Every indication at this early stage points to the fact that the remains found are that of Caylee Anthony, but until the DNA analysis comes through in a few days time, nothing is said to be conclusive.
Neighbours have set up a memorial for Caylee under a tree near her home. There have been many teddies, flowers and gifts left there as a token of sympathy, and each day the pile grows. -
