Rapper Lil Wayne death threat and spoof reporting of death

The NME reports that a “fake site claims rapper, Lil Wayne has been shot dead”. Lil’ Wayne has since, become the subject of a death hoax, after a fake BBC News page appeared to claim the rapper had been killed”.

This hoax has now circulated all over the Internet throughout the weekend, until several sites, including Perezhilton.com, went out of the way to state that the rapper still very much alive and kicking.

Contrary to word on the street over the weekend, Lil Wayne, 26, is not in fact dead. Word had it that the 26 year old rapper died from a gunshot wound resulting from gang warfare.

Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr, aka: Lil Wayne is very much alive and well. Rumour had it that Lil Wayne had become the latest victim of the infamous feud between the “Blood” and “Crips.”

The site stated that Lil Wayne got caught up in a massive battle with members of the gang ‘Crips’ and he got shot 6 times. He lost a lot of blood and after being rushed to Tulane University Hospital, Lil Wayne died from his gunshot wounds at 2:36am.

Do not believe everything that you read. “The report is one of many in a long line of replicas made to look like, in this case, BBC News.”

The NME said “A similar online death hoax using the same ‘BBC News’ generator also appeared this weekend suggesting UK grime artists Wiley was dead too”.

I hate these death hoaxes which keep cropping up across the internet; it’s so easy for untrue rumours to get started on the internet, for fake news posts to fool many, and for the untrue word to start to spread.

It’s terrible the distress it must cause to fans of the artists, I’ve never really listened to the music of Lil Wayne, but when I read the words ‘Rapper Lil Wayne Shot Dead’ I felt my heart stop and such a sensation of shock and upset wash over me. I hate learning that talented musicians/vocalists have been killed/have died; it’s such a waste of fine artistic ability.

I was glad to learn this was just a hoax, it’s terrible that people spread such dreadful rumours as these though; do they not think of the way it will effect people. It really is stupid, the small minded individuals that spread such terrible lies as these.

Brilliant post from you there, very catchy headline, and excellent writing too. Fantastic work from you as always, you really are an incredibly talented writer. :)

OMG, are you serious, why would anyone fake that lil’ wayne was dead? I mean, he needs to be alive so that everyone can give him respect for that great rap he did in jay sean’s hit single “Down!”
